Njiapanda (crossroads) is a popular Tanzanian community education radio program which is aired on Clouds FM radio every sunday 14- 16 hours. The program is produced and presented by Dr Isaac Maro who is a qualified physician with a masters` in public health from Dartmouth College, US. The program also has a special segment which is dedicated to discuss issues surrounding public health called Afya.com.
On 13th June 2010 the program interviewed members of the ministry of Health who are working on safe blood donation program, this program was specifically to commemorate the worlds` blood donors day to recognize all those who donate blood for medical use throughout the world. With Dr Isaac Maro who was a presenter there was Dr Vishnu Mahamba and three representatives from Safe Blood initiative of the ministry of health. The discussion was on issues which prevent people from donating blood. Both cultural as well as other reasons were discussed along with challenges which stop people from donating blood. All facts about blood and blood donation in Tanzania were discussed on the program.
